Walk 15

The “Outdoor” version of Leslie Sansone’s Walk At Home DVD. This is a low impact aerobics class based on 4 basic moves. Join us for a multi-muscle 3-mile “walk” which will promote a fun atmosphere, wellness, and weight loss.

HIIT

Women's Weight Training

Weight training is a necessary component of everyone’s exercise program to manage weight, to protect against bone loss, to strengthen the body, and to fight against diseases. These classes use personalized instruction to teach members weight-bearing and muscle strengthening exercises using free weights and machines for a full-body workout. We can accommodate every fitness level, regardless of experience, health concerns or physical limitations. It will give your body a total body workout and improve your confidence using the fitness center.

Tai Chi

Find poetry in motion. A Chinese martial art created to keep your body’s energy flowing smoothly and to teach instinctive reactions that would keep you one step ahead in combat. Movements are designed to encourage a smooth flow of chi throughout the body, along with good breathing techniques and concentration.

Level Up 24

New Class! A high intensity interval training program that consists of three either minute segments of body-weight exercises, followed by two minutes of rest. The first segment focuses on the upper body, second segment on the abs and the third segment on the lower body. There are 24 minutes of active movement with six minutes of rest!

Gentle Yoga

Exploring asana (poses) including standing, seated, twists, backbends and the fundamentals of sun salutations. These sequences are practiced with alignment in mind, allowing you to gain confidence, strength and flexibility. The finer details of basic postures are emphasized with variations so that students gain comfort and learn appropriate modifications for their personal practice. The unhurried pace mixed with detailed alignment instructions and spiritual context keep it interesting and valuable for all levels!

Iron Yoga

Focuses on incorporating yoga with weight training and cardio for maximum strength and flexibility benefits. Warm-up with yoga, moving into resistance training and cardio sets to tone the body. Yoga

This class is open to all who wish to learn Yoga basics and to refine their practice. Classes are open to all levels: beginner – advanced. Barre

Beyond a basic barre workout! This class encourages you to challenge yourself with weights, planks, pushups, thigh, glute and hamstring work, sometimes using a barre for balance. A short, intense targeted core work at the end of the class will strengthen your abs and back muscles. It is a combo of strength training, barre, yoga and pilates. Virtual Personal Training

With the Edwardsville YMCA’s Virtual Personal Training program, you can meet with a trainer one-on-one through video chats and a workout will be created just for you! These workouts will be based on equipment you already have at home, or centered on body weight exercises. Your trainer will support your workout by correcting your form and providing encouragement throughout your workout session and act as your accountability partner who may assign homework and follow up with you each week, making 100% sure that you’re set up to meet your goals.

Virtual Gymnastics

Rolling Together (Ages 1-4)

This Summer, roll Online to Dance, Stretch, Jump and Tumble with all of your Edwardsville YMCA Preschool Friends from the convenience of your own home!  Our new, 30 minute Virtual class is called: Rolling Together and will engage your preschooler from the very beginning with a creative movement warm-up set to music.  This class will also demonstrate stretching technique, teach basic body positions, practice basic locomotor skills/jumps and coach basic tumbling from rolling to cartwheels. *Families will need to download Zoom to be able to participate*
Space and Equipment Required:  A soft carpeted or grassy area covered with a yoga mat, beach towel or blanket.  Participants will need to have enough space to kick the full length of their body and safely reach over their heads when they jump up and down.

Modern/Jazz (Ages 8 - 12)

Following a short warm up, students can learn combinations from both styles of dance all in one class during this abbreviated summer session. For beginning and intermediate level students active in dance throughout the school year, this class provides a way to stay connected to dance for the summer while taking a break from a full dance schedule. For dancers who have not taken modern or jazz, this class provides an introduction to both.

Dance Exploration Station (Ages 6 - 10

Through guided creative movement and basic modern dance, students will use their imagination to choreograph a short dance based on a theme. Students will choose and area in their homes to create a special space representing the theme. This will be their “station” for participation in each class. Some dance experience helpful, but not required.

Choreography Corner (Ages 10 - 13)

During each class, students will be taught short, fun dance phrases created specifically in small spaces or around objects in their homes. They will use what they learn to inspire their own ideas. With guidance, each student will choreograph a short dance centered in/around a chosen area or object. Some dance experience helpful, but not required.

Imagine If…. (Ages 6 - 8)

Imagine if a flower, a bee or a teapot could dance.
In each class, students will explore movement inspired by imagining if various animals, insects and objects could dance. Students will be prompted to find inspiration indoors or outdoors at their homes. With guidance, students will create a short dance using their favorite choices. No dance experience required.

Just For Fun Jazz (Ages 10 - 12)

Students will learn basic jazz steps and short, easy dance combinations. Steps from the combinations will be used to build a simple choreographed piece. The goal of the class is for the students to have an outlet for energetic physical activity while expressing themselves with little to no dance training.

Swan Lake Sampler (Ages 8 - 12)

Following a short ballet warm up, students will learn choreography set to a piece from Swan Lake. The focus of the class will be learning the choreography. This is a great class for ballet enthusiasts needing a short reprieve from concentrating on technical ability but who want to stay involved in ballet during summer break. Dancers from beginning to intermediate levels are encouraged to participate. Students with no ballet training are welcome, however, some experience is recommended.
