Quarantine Tri On Your Time

Our 10 week triathlon is back with a twist! Our new digital Tri On Your Time program makes it possible for you to log your progress for running and biking ONLINE, and replaces our swim component with an online fitness class, or online lap tracking is you have your own pool! This “race” is designed for all levels, so get ready to jump back into fitness from wherever you are with the support of the Edwardsville YMCA! At the end of the 10 weeks, you will be awarded an exclusive t-shirt reflecting your completed Ironman level!

Aerobics 101

A lower intensity cardiovascular class that emphasizes basic movements, strengthening, and stretching. Senior adults, pregnant or postnatal women, and beginners will find this class to be a great choice.

Come join us for a workout designed to challenge and improve your strength, muscular & cardio endurance, flexibility, and body composition. Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga is a class designed for people of all ages. It is excellent for increasing flexibility, balance and promotes calmness of the mind. It is also great for anyone who has had knee, hip, back injuries and arthritis.

SilverSneakers Classic

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers ball are offered for resistance. A chair is available if needed for seated or standing support.

Tai Chi

Find poetry in motion. A Chinese martial art created to keep your body’s energy flowing smoothly and to teach instinctive reactions that would keep you one step ahead in combat. Movements are designed to encourage a smooth flow of chi throughout the body, along with good breathing techniques and concentration.

Walk-15 Aerobics

The “Studio” version of Leslie Sansone’s Walk At Home DVD. This is a low impact aerobics class based on 4 basic moves. Women's Weight Training

Weight training is a necessary component of everyone’s exercise program to manage weight, to protect against bone loss, to strengthen the body, and to fight against diseases. These classes use personalized instruction to teach members weight-bearing and muscle strengthening exercises using free weights and machines for a full-body workout. We can accommodate every fitness level, regardless of experience, health concerns or physical limitations. It will give you a total body workout and improve your confidence using the Fitness Center.

Sports Team Training

The Sports Team Training (STT) program is for middle school, high school & collegiate sports teams. The STT is directed by former collegiate strength & conditioning Coach Bo Pritchard. This program consists of a 1hr 15min, 2-day-a-week, total body plyometric training workout. Offering an elite level training at an affordable cost! For the last 7 years, we have conducted the pre-season training for the EHS ladies basketball & softball team. We can help your team too!

Adaptive Yoga

This class is designed to share the benefits of Yoga with anyone, regardless of physical ability. This includes individuals living with physical limitations or chronic illness, especially those with Parkinson’s Disease. It is specifically geared towards taking a creative and mindful approach towards adapting poses for every body.

This class is a part of our Parkinson’s programming and is FREE for those registered for the Parkinson’s Exercise class.

Gentle Yoga

This class explores asana (poses) including standing, seated, twists, backbends and the fundamentals of sun salutations. Poses and sequences are practiced with alignment in mind, offering practitioners the opportunity to gain confidence, strength, and flexibility. The finer details of basic postures are emphasized with variations so that students gain comfort and learn appropriate modifications for their personal practice. The unhurried pace and simple poses make this class great for beginners while the detailed alignment instructions and spiritual context keep it interesting and valuable for all levels of yoga students. Expect a well-rounded class that includes poses, breathing, meditation and philosophy.

Yoga

These classes are open to all who wish to learn Yoga basics and refine their practice. Classes are open to all levels, beginner to advanced. We will practice Yoga breath (pranayama), dynamic postures (asanas), and the flow of breath (vinyasa). Through the practice of integrating breath and refining postures, participants will increase flexibility, strength and balance and feel relaxed and restored.

Iron Yoga

Focuses on incorporating yoga with weight training and cardio for maximum strength and flexibility benefits. Warm up with yoga, moving into resistance training and cardio sets to tone the body. Special
emphasis will be on core and strength building poses utilizing light weights. After you get your sweat on, you’ll cool down by stretching and releasing with yoga.

Restorative Yoga

A Yoga practice for the whole body’s deep healing for growth and repair. Wonderfully helpful when you are physically and emotionally tired by using props to hold postures so that you can completely relax your body. Suitable for all levels.

Yin Yoga *NEW*

Both yoga beginners and more advanced practitioners will benefit from Yin practice. Led by Nancy Migliozzi, this class will start with gentle, vinyasa flow connecting breath to movement, before moving into a series of passive floor poses, each held for 2-3 minutes. This style of practice helps to release connective tissues of the body, improving flexibility and joint mobility. Yin also increases circulation, calms the mind, and reduces stress and anxiety.

Youth Yoga (Ages 6 - 12)

Our instructor, Lisa Allen is trained in “Kidding Around YogaTM” with 21 years in education and a 200-hour yoga certification. Yoga in a supportive, inclusive environment can also help build confidence, relieve stress and anxiety, and develop mindfulness. This class will get kids singing, dancing, skipping, marching, jogging, shaking, laughing, hopping, limbo-ing and storytelling ALL while practicing authentic Yoga.

Beyond a basic barre workout: this class encourages you to challenge yourself with weights, planks, pushups, thigh, glute and hamstring work, sometimes using a barre for balance. A short, intense targeted core work at the end of the class will strengthen your abs and back muscles. It is a combo of strength training, barre, yoga and pilates. Challenging and effective for all ages!

Restorative Yoga

Candlelight Yoga Flow

Indulge in the ultimate yoga experience combining soft music and candlelight in this special 75 minute class. We begin slowly by mindfully flowing with the breath from one pose to the next. Gradually the poses increase in difficulty ensuring everyone from beginners to more advanced students find their space to grow in strength and confidence. By practicing in a candlelit space, we can focus on our own individual light to release judgement and competition. This helps release physical, mental, and emotional tension. Each student’s abilities will be honored by offering variations to support all levels.
