Gymnastics Specialty Classes

YMCA Gymnastics Pre-Team

A special invite-only introduction to our gymnastics team. In this class, they will learn the basics of vault, beam, bars, and floor and begin to work on skills that will ready them for competition.

Special Needs Gymnastics Class

This class is designed for children that have special needs and would like a much smaller teacher/student ratio. Please call for more information.

Gymnastics & Dance Combo (Ages 3-5)

This class gives your child the opportunity to take gymnastics and dance. Class will participate in 30 minutes of gymnastics and 30 minutes of ballet. All classes will meet in lobby by Gymnastics room.

Rock & Roll (Ages 3 - 4)

This exciting new class will combine your children’s two favorite places to visit: the downstairs gymnastics gym and the rock wall area. In gymnastics, students will build strength, agility and coordination while learning the basics of gymnastics and tumbling. Students will be introduced to and instructed on all of the events our gym has to offer. In climbing, students will begin to get comfortable on the wall through bouldering. No harnesses will be used. Students will focus on balance, coordination and gross motor skills through games and activities.

30 minutes per area

Mighty Mites (Ages 5-6)

This special advanced class focuses on Swinger skills for gymnasts that have shown good flexibility, strength, listening skills, and good concepts of body awareness. Mighty Mites meets twice a week. Must be director approved. (75 minutes X 2 days; 6:1 ratio)

Private Lessons

Must be scheduled with coach and approved by the Gymnastics Director.
Will not be held during regular class times unless by the Director.
Must be paid for PRIOR to the time of the lesson and receipt must be handed to coach.
Cancellation without notification will result in being charged for the missed lesson.

½ Hour: Members $15 • Non-Members $20
1 Hour: Members $25 • Non-Members $30

Semi-private Lessons

Both parties must agree to sign up together. The attending student pays for a full private lesson if one student misses.

Gymnastics Team

Gymnastics Team

This recreational team practices year round and competes throughout the states of Illinois and Missouri in the USAG levels 2-8. Team spirit, sportsmanship and self-esteem are emphasized. Must Be Director Approved.

Gymnastics Nationals

The 2019 – 2020 Edwardsville YMCA Gymnastics season is underway. We always look forward to working with both athletes and parents as we prepare for another successful competition season.

Macie Crow Invitational

Macie Crow Memorial Scholarship

The Macie Crow Memorial Scholarship will provide financial assistance to an undergraduate student attending a post-secondary institution of higher education and/ or trade school. The scholarship is intended to support a student who is committed to furthering their education after high school.

The YMCA scholarship committee will select one student based on the criteria listed below to receive a one-time $500 scholarship. Scholarship winner will be announced on the day of the Macie Crow Invitational.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Graduating from high school on or before the end of the 2020 academic school year.
  • Must be a level 4 or higher gymnast
  • Competed in gymnastics for the past 2 years
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
